China has been the manufacturing base for European car parts long enough that the question is no longer "can I source here?" but "how do I source here without learning every lesson the expensive way?". The answer is less about finding a magical factory and more about running a disciplined process.

What actually determines quality

Three things, in this order: who makes the part, how it is verified, and how it is packed. A trading company with no factory visibility cannot answer the first question. Ask which factory produces the reference, whether it has been audited, and what material documentation comes with the batch. Then insist on sample verification against the OE part before any volume order - not against a photo, against the physical part.

Structure the first order to protect yourself

Keep the first order small even when the price is attractive: one pallet across several references teaches you more than a full container of one reference. Pay by T/T with a deposit and balance against the bill of lading - terms the market has used for years. Agree the Incoterm explicitly (FOB and CIF cover most cases) and put the packing specification in writing: box branding, label language, carton marks.

Quality gates that pay for themselves

A pre-shipment inspection costs a fraction of a claim. For safety-critical references - braking, steering, anything that rotates at speed - piece-by-piece inspection is worth the cost. Photos of the actual packing, not renders, close the loop before the container doors shut.
